The 4 Reasons Why Trading Your Joy For Weight Loss Will Backfire

Let's be real...

Especially if you’re using old, outdated strategies based on what barely worked in the 70’s and 80’s--much less today.

There’s a belief that weight loss is all about going harder, doubling down on motivation, being more disciplined. The grind.

Trouble is, the numbers prove that doesn’t actually work. It’s unsustainable.

And it’s simply the wrong way to treat your own body.

It’s also why 95% of people will fail to maintain their results when attempting to lose weight with this method, especially when trying to keep the weight off in the long run.

I talk to women every day stuck in the trading the pleasures in life for weight loss mindset.

They can’t wrap their heads around being able to achieve the body of their dreams without having to give up all their favourite foods or spending hours working out.

“Well, I can’t control myself around those types of foods, so I’m better off just cutting them out completely!

“If I don’t work out every day, my stomach comes right back”

But there’s 4 reasons why this approach fails :

1) “The grind” : Motivation starts off strong, but the novelty eventually wears out. Motivation then slowly fades and all healthy habits just start feeling tortuous, cumbersome and boring.

2) BIG life events: Deaths, births, job changes, illness , moves, and many other often unexpected transitions cannot be avoided, and tend to throw people out of their “healthy” new routine and into unfamiliar, challenging territory. This often leads to people falling off the wagon and back to their default factory settings – their old habits which never truly got replaced, just temporarily suppressed.

3) Result plateaus. When effort hasn’t changed but measurable progress has slowed, or even stopped completely. What do you do?! How can you tweak and adjust according to YOUR body to progress past those stalls?

4) Tantrums, hissy-fits, and breakdowns. Did I mention change is hard? And that it can bring up, pardon my French, all kinds of crap? Yeah, it can. It is very easy to give up on yourself when things get hard. Without someone to keep you on track, accountable and helping you navigate through that mind drama, everything falls apart.

But, as you learn the correct & sustainable way, it doesn’t have to be that way.

In fact, you learn how to :

  • Eat better, without dieting or feeling deprived.
  • Get active in a reasonable manner, no matter what shape you’re in now.
  • Ditch the food rules, dropping the fad diets and conflicting advice.
  • Build fitness into your life, without it taking over.
  • Achieve, and maintain your goals, EVEN when life gets busy.

At this point, it should be no surprise that sustainable programs offer the most valuable and meaningful experience for clients, and coaches!

I get to go deep into the heart of coaching and into the hearts of the people I coach. And that’s what real transformation is about!

As unsexy as it is, it isn’t about quick, scrappy solutions and duct-taping things together until they fall apart again.

It’s building something strong and special from the ground up.

This deep learning and understanding is a long-term process, but it’s worth it.

It’s a different way to change your life, yes. It’s not flashy or filled with “drop 20 pounds this week” promises.

But it’s real. And that’s what you really need.
